Three Important Reminders About Flu Shots

  • The Centers for Disease Control (CDC) recommends that everyone six months and older receive a yearly flu shot.
  • Vaccination is still the best way to protect against influenza, and can help prevent flu-related illnesses, doctor’s visits, missed work or school, and hospital stays.
  • Remember, after administration, it takes two weeks for the flu vaccine to offer protection. For this reason, flu shots should be given soon after they become available for the year, or by October.
